What are the Logical Reasons to believe in God

What are the Logical Reasons to believe in God?

Introduction:

Welcome to the world of philosophy and religion, where the search for logical reasons to believe in God is at the forefront. In this series, we will explore the rational arguments that support the existence of a God. We will also explore the counterarguments to this logic and understand the complex relationship between humans and God.

You believe in the existence of God primarily because your parents, neighbors, teachers, school, friends, society, and government all try to influence your religious beliefs since you were a child. As you grow up, you start experiencing a kind of Stages of spiritual awakening or the seeking of spirituality begins within yourself. And this is natural too.

Just because the majority of people in our world believe in a supreme power, Even famous scientists do believe in a Divine force, but it doesn’t mean that you should too.

Atheists and agnostics have also failed to prove the non-existence of God, but that doesn’t mean you should start believing in God from tomorrow. These are not logical reasons to believe in God.

And it is also true that Theists have not been able to prove that everything is only God. Let me present a rational case for the existence of God. There are so many scientific justifications to believe in God. However, today we will discuss only logical reasons to believe in God.

Overview:

The time of blind devotion is over, this is an era of Artificial intelligence and Social Media. The world is a global village and Google sir will reveal everything about your religion and God with just one click. The people will never be able to connect with your religion through false gimmicks and emotional manipulation.

According to a 2014 Pew Research Religious Landscape survey reports, 4% are agnostics, and 3% are atheists, but the percentage of “Non-religious people” or “Nothing Particular” is 16% in the United States. But still, we can say that the vast majority (77%) of Americans believe in the existence of God.

As per this report, 71% of people follow the Christian faith, while only 6% belong to other religions such as Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists.

However, the same Pew Research conducted a Report in 2022 on the Future of Religion in America. And this report can surprise you. Reports suggest that in the coming decades, the number of Christians will decrease significantly, and the non-religious population will become the majority.

It is truly heartbreaking to see a rapid decline in faith in God among the people. The increasing number of people in the U.S. who deny the existence of God makes this discussion even more important.

Let’s have a serious and meaningful discussion about it.

What Philosophy Says on Reasons to Believe in God:

In the 19th century, there was a German philosopher named Soren Kierkegaard. Another philosopher of that time was Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. Both philosophers gave quite logical and intellectual theories. But at the time, people couldn’t understand them.

They said that there are three stages in life.

The first stage is happiness. You have a love for things that make you happy.

But you remain attracted to happiness for some time.

After a while, you slowly move towards morality, like Kindness, Helping Others, Honesty Ethics, etc.

Then slowly you lose interest in morality and start to move toward spiritual life.

In other words, you have different priorities at different stages of your life. In childhood, you love toys, Then girlfriend. Next is status meaning money and power, and finally spirituality.

Similarly,

Abraham Maslow explained in his theory of needs that initially, your needs are physiological, which means you look for food, drink, shelter, clothing, warmth, and sleep.

And then you chase after life’s safety, like emotional security, property, health, well-being, and financial security.

Then you need love and belonging in your life.

And in the 4th and 5th stages, you can be seen searching for esteem and self-actualization.

Which means self-fulfilment, seeking personal growth, and peak experiences.

Finally, your needs reach the transcendence level. This is the 6th and final level of your needs.

This level emphasizes your selflessness, spiritual awakening, and spiritual connection. You seek experiences that go beyond your interests, to attain a profound feeling of connection within the greatness of life.

So philosophy proves here that spirituality is a higher-level human need and No one can live with the anxiety and stress of life if they don’t believe in any supreme power.

Origins of the Religions in History:

If you take a closer look, most of the religions were born around the 6th century B.C.

Taoism and Confucianism originated in China during this period.

Judaism also originated in the Middle East region in the 6th century B.C.

Whether we are talking about Buddhism and Jainism, it all happened around the same period.

Christianity came around 600 years later.

Islam as an organized religion is only around 1400 years old.

On the other hand, Sikhism is relatively young. It is only 500 years old.

Among all these religions, Hinduism is the only religion whose exact date of origin scientists have not been able to determine yet.

Hindus are believed to be the most ancient religion that dates back to the very beginning of human civilization. The Vedas are considered to be the oldest known scriptures of God.

The history of the thinking species, which means human evolution, is almost 70,000 years old. For the last 2,500 years, different philosophies have dominated our society.

The emergence of religion came at a time when there was cognitive development in human beings. Of course, when their stomach is full, and their family’s needs are fulfilled, they begin to feel the desire to know the Creator and secure their future.

It may sound funny to hear, but this is the truth.

Who knows how many more Earths and civilizations exist in other galaxies of the universe?

Maybe there is someone out there, just like us, who’s thinking about a theory about God.

After all, science has only discovered less than 30% of our own Earth, so why even talk about other galaxies?

All religious explanations and beliefs about God and the universe that exist today are made with us humans, and our Earth, in mind.

But why do different religions have different gods?

Let’s explore this by examining the religious beliefs of the world’s major religions.

It happened in such a way that we interpreted the idea of God by considering our country, region, environment, language, and society.

For example, In the stories of Jesus and Moses, God speaks Hebrew and Greek language, and you will see stories of sheep goats, wine, and Ice.

In the stories of Muhammad, Allah speaks only Arabic and you will find stories of camels, tribe groups, and deserts.

The delicious and tasty fruit trees, along with the abundance of honey, milk, and sweet water flowing rivers, are described as a blessing from God found in heaven and paradise.

On the other hand:

The fertile soil of the Indian continent has always been nourished by sweet water rivers, delicious fruits, various types of grains and pulses, honey, and other dairy products.

In their stories, you will find tales of rebirth, salvation, yoga, meditation, humanity, and the triumph of truth over greed, as taught in the religious books of all Indian continent religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, where God is seen imparting knowledge on these very truths in the Sanskrit language.

Let’s return to our original question.

After all, what are the reasons to believe in God?

Whose knowledge should we consider superior?

Should we believe it or not?

Let’s explore whether this world is real or not.

And if it is real, what is it?

Tat Tvam Asi and Quantum Entanglement:

The University of Vienna in Austria awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for the year 2022 to physicist Anton Zeilinger, John Clauser from J.F. Clauser & Associates in the US, and Alain Aspect from Université Paris-Saclay in France.

Do you know why?

They Won the Nobel Prize because they proved Einstein’s Theory Wrong.

In today’s date, there might not be a greater expert in quantum physics than scientist Anton Zeilinger.

Anton Zeilinger’s groundbreaking work on Quantum Entanglement and its relationship to the classical Sanskrit phrase “Tat Travam Asi” reveals a connection between science and spirituality. He also explained how this discovery gives reasons to believe in God.

The Sanskrit text “Tat Tvam Asi” is from the Chandogya Upanishad of the Sama Veda. Which means “you are that.” Here “That” refers to the absolute. It explains the relationship between the individual and God.

If I explain to you the meaning of “Tat Tvam Asi” in simple language according to Shankaracharya, it means that there are three levels of reality.

The lowest level is called “pratibhas”, which means when you see a dream in your sleep, it is called pratibhas. When you see the dream, it feels real. When you see a lion in your dream you feel scared. You start to sweat. You run in fear.  Sometimes you fall. You feel that you are hurt in your dream. You see blood coming from the injury. It feels like a real moment. You live the dream as if it is a real moment.

Suddenly, you wake up and realize that it was all a lie. Here, Shankaracharya explained that once you awaken from the dream, you realize that it wasn’t real but was created by your brain. It was created from your consciousness. The tiger in your dream, the injury you sustained, the blood flowing, the fear you felt in your dream, it was all a lie. In reality, you are lying on your bed in your room. These are all images or incidents of dreams created by your subconscious mind.

This is the second level that Shankaracharya named the material world. Both you and I live our lives in this real world.

And the third level is spiritual. According to Shankaracharya, when you reach this state, the reality of the world will appear to you like a dream. This spiritual level is God. What we have believed to be reality so far was also just a perception.

So far, what we have thought of as reality was also just perception. Reality is as we perceive it.

Many scientists and philosophers agree with this truth.

You can learn about Philosopher Kant’s view of the mind and consciousness of self from this.

We recognize the existence of an ultimate reality, although our understanding of it is currently limited. Until now, we express our gratitude to the divine soul and offer thanks to God for everything.

Let us today attempt to connect with some of these holy spirits in our quest to find God.

Spiritualism is the practice of connecting one’s soul with the holy spirit, as mentioned in Christianity. This practice aids us in our journey towards reaching God. This knowledge is only found in Hinduism, where connecting the soul with that ultimate power is the highest state of meditation and spirituality.

What the Spiritual text and Saints say about God:

When once God was displeased with Prophet Moses. At that time, God had said, “I love those who worship me wholeheartedly, considering Me as their self. I am not bound by any rituals, verses, mantras, or worship methods. I hear everyone, even the prayers of the speechless.”

Similarly, we see in the gospel story of the rich young man who to live his faith more deeply, rejects the invitation of Jesus Christ.

In Bhagavad Geeta, Lord Krishna says:

“Every selfless act is born from the eternal, infinite Godhead. He is present in every act of service. All life turns on this law. Whoever violates it, indulging his senses for his own pleasure and ignoring the needs of others, has wasted his life. But those who realize the Self are always satisfied. Having found the source of joy and fulfillment, they no longer seek happiness from the external world. They have nothing to gain or lose by any action; neither people nor things can affect their security. Strive constantly to serve the welfare of the world; by devotion to selfless work, one attains the supreme goal of life. Do your work with the welfare of others always in mind.”

God is only real when we take him seriously.

In simple words, we are happy and at peace to the extent that we take the risk of living a life of faith, whether explicitly or implicitly. I have seen the happiest people who possess all the human qualities, and also have faith. They are all quite generous, selfless, kind, and religious.

Leon Bloy once said that there is only one sadness in life: not being a saint. They desired to live life like a saint. You all should also read in detail about how to become a saint.

Law of cause and effect:

There is a law of cause and effect, meaning that the universe returns to us morally what we give to it.

As Jesus said, “what you breathe out is what you inhale”.

If you release selfishness as a breath, then you will receive selfishness in the form of a breath from others as well.

If I exhale bitterness, then I will encounter the same at every turn.

On the other hand, if you take deep breaths of love, kindness, and forgiveness, they will return to you just as much as you give them.

Our existence and the universe are written with a deep, inherent, unalterable structure of love and justice, which can only be seen through a unique, divine intellect and a heart full of love.

Let me tell you a story on this:

A famous philosopher walks into a saloon for a haircut.

The barber notices that he is a well-known philosopher.

He asks the famous philosopher, “Can you give me logical reasons to believe in God?”

The philosopher tries to answer the question based on his knowledge.

However, the barber then asks, “If God exists, why are there so many people suffering? Why are there millions of people going hungry? Why are there innocent children living on the streets?”

Until now, the intellectual had become troubled by his questions.

He got up and went outside his shop.

Till now, the intellectual was already feeling troubled by his doubts. He left his shop and went outside. After 5 minutes he came back and said, “There are no barbers in the world. If there were, then there wouldn’t be so many people with messy hair and long beards on the street. This clearly means that there are no barbers in the world.”

Now, barber understands what it means to be God and how to connect with him.

Teachings from the Story:

If you want to attain God, you will have to go to God. You need to find the way. To establish a connection with God, one has to go through the path of humanity. Lord Krishna Declared Himself as God without Doubt 5500 years back before Arjuna. Or you are waiting for a voice or miracle, just like Moses used to hear the voice of God when he made a mistake?

However, to achieve this, you will also have to become a devotee like Arjun and Moses.

Conclusion:

In this philosophical journey, we’ve explored logical reasons to believe in God, from historical and psychological points of view to quantum physics and ethical principles. We also explored different reasons to believe in God, considering how our minds work, and our natural inclination toward spirituality grow.

Scientists have already proved that our planet is as small as a grain of sand compared to the infinite universe. On a small planet called Earth, a man is sitting in his 14×18-sized room, with his 14-gram brain, wishing to deny the existence of the creator of this infinite universe. Isn’t that funny?
What are your logical reasons for believing in God, my friends?
