How to Have a Clear Mindset?

Introduction:

In today’s world, it can be hard to find peace in your mind. Our minds are filled with thoughts, and it is hard to concentrate on what is important. In this article, we will find out how to have a clear mindset and how to enter a state of deep concentration and spiritual awakening.

An Inspirational Story:

Once upon a time, there was a guru who had a few devoted students.

One of the students was deeply meditating, but his mind was always full of thoughts.

He kept trying to clear his mind, but nothing worked.

Finally, he went to the guru and said, “Gurudev! My mind is full of thoughts. I can’t concentrate in one place. Every time I try to focus, my mind moves from one place to another. I have thousands of thoughts running through my mind and I don’t even know when will they happen. After a while, I am aware of what I am doing and thinking. I want to get rid of all my thoughts. I want to have no thoughts until I intentionally create them.”

The guru responded, ” We can not overcome obstacles if we don’t know the root cause of the problem. The mind you want to empty, have you understood that mind? Have you explored it, even a little?”

The student replied, ” Gurudev, I have spent a lot of time trying to understand my mind. But the more I try, the deeper it gets. It’s like a complicated maze. I try to clear it, but it’s still there.”

The guru advised, “Go and get a small jar filled with tiny pebbles.”

The student did as he was told and put the glass in front of him.

The guru said, “Consider this jar as your mind and get rid of all the pebbles from it.”

The student started to remove the pebbles.

and after emptying twelve of them, the rest of the pebbles started falling to the bottom.

The guru then told him, “Stop and observe. Now the jar is not accepting any more pebbles. If you want to add more pebbles, you have to first empty the jar of the pebbles you have already removed.”

The student understood the lesson instantly.

And said, ” I understand what you are trying to say. The jar can only be filled when it is empty. Similarly, my mind can only be emptied if I get rid of the thoughts that I have allowed to accumulate.”

The Guru smiled and said, ‘You have understood.’ Your mind is like a jar. You fill it with thoughts, but it will never be emptied. It will always be full of thoughts. That is the illusion of mind. The mind may seem full, but it is always empty. It is the Law of Nature, that the mind remains full of thoughts, and it is your job to empty it. You have to clear your mindset by focusing on a single thought, with total concentration.

Make sure you don’t think of anything else while you’re working on this thought. When you’re done, switch to the next thought, but don’t let your thoughts wander to anything else. Escaping the mind’s illusion is not easy, but with practice, you can achieve it.”

The student asked, “Gurudev, now that I know what you are talking about, but what should I do next? Please guide me.”

The guru replied, “Don’t get entangled in the web of your mind. Instead, collect your thoughts, cultivate focus, and put your entire being into what you’re doing. You do it with the knowledge that you won’t have to do anything else after this. When you work on a single thought, put all your energy into it so that there’s no room for anything else. When you switch to another thought, focus only on that. Don’t let your mind drift to a third thought. Liberation from the illusion of the mind is not easy, but with regular practice, everything is possible.”

The student said, “Gurudev, I will follow this path. Thank you for your guidance. We often try to clear our minds because we are bothered by the unwanted thoughts that keep coming. The more we try to get rid of the unwanted thoughts, the more they come back. We use the very thoughts to calm our minds, but these thoughts are deeply intertwined with the ones we want to let go of. How can we find peace when we cannot get rid of our thoughts? It’s only when we have no other choice that we put all our energy into what we have and make it the best it can be. When there’s no alternative, we choose the best option. Similarly, if we don’t want our minds to be filled with thoughts, we should leave them with no alternative but to empty themselves.”

Guru smiled and said, “You are right. We often get lost in the maze of our thoughts. The more we escape from our thoughts the more they take hold of us because we use our thoughts to calm down the chaos. That’s why wise tells change your mind to change your life.

The things that help us Stay Calm are very similar to the things that we want to run away from. When we stop running away from our problems and start focusing on the solution, that’s when we find peace. Thinking doesn’t solve anything, only thinking leads to solutions.”

Consider this in life:

It’s not that easy. It takes practice, practice, and understanding your mind. Like the little boy who was taught how to clean the clay jar, we can also learn how to have a clear mindset and focus better.

Well Said by American former basketball player and coach Phil Jackson:

“If you have a clear mindset, you won’t have to search for direction. The direction will come to you.”
