How to change your Mind to change your Life

How to change your Mind to change your Life

Introduction:

William Shakespeare:

“Nothing is good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

In this tale, a young man asks a saint for help to get out of a difficult situation in his life. The saint responds with a simple yet powerful metaphor of salt and water. The moral of the story is to change your mind to change your life.

A Tale of Glass and Lake:

Once, a young man asked a Saint:

“I’m in a lot of trouble in my life. Can you tell me how to get out of this mess?”

The Saint replied, “Take a handful of salt and mix it in a glass of water, then drink it.”

The young man did as instructed.

“How does it taste?” the Saint asked.

“It’s Terrible… extremely salty,” the young man replied, spitting it out.

Saint smiled and said, “Now, take another handful of salt in your hand and follow me.”

They walked slowly until they reached a clear, freshwater lake.

“Now, put the salt into the water of this lake,” Saint instructed.

The young man did as told.

“Now, drink the water from this lake,” the Saint said.

The young man began to drink the water.

Once again, Saint asked, “Tell me, how does it taste now? Do you still find it salty?”

“No, it’s sweet and very refreshing,” the young man replied.

The Saint sat beside the young man, holding his hand, and said,

“The sorrows of life are just like salt, neither more nor less. The quantity of sorrow in life remains the same, but how we perceive it depends on the container we put it in. So, when you are unhappy, you can only do one thing: enlarge your container…

Don’t be a glass, become a lake.”

Moral of the Story:

The moral of the story is that we can change our perception of life’s difficulties by changing our mindset. Instead of thinking of ourselves as a little glass that can’t hold much, we can think of ourselves as a big lake that can hold all of life’s sadness. When we do this, we can turn bitter experiences into opportunities for growth.

This timeless tale reminds us that we have the power to change our minds and a clear mindset to transform our lives. We can choose to see life’s difficulties as opportunities for growth and become stronger and more resilient in the face of adversity.

Kevin Michel, writes in his book Moving Through Parallel Worlds To Achieve Your Dreams

“To shift your life in a desired direction, you must powerfully shift your subconscious.”
